Ministry and life during a global pandemic sometimes requires a bit more creativity than normal. While things look different in 2020, there are some things that remain the same and unshakable. Missing some of the normal Advent activities as we prepare for the coming of the newborn King, we have a chance to embrace some new opportunities.
Because this year, we can’t gather as families to put together “Advent in a Box” or a traditional Advent calendar – of course, you can assemble them yourselves and share! Another opportunity for families that are separated in this season, friends, neighbors, and church members – a digital Advent calendar. The best news is that there are several free options that don’t require a lot of tech know-how:
- AdventMyFriend – is a web-based opportunity. You can customize the background image and each square. Pictures, links, text, or even videos! Here’s a link to connect you: https://adventmyfriend.com
- MyAdvent – is primarily app-based (IOS and Android) but generates a link that can be shared with friends on the web. Also free, customizable, image-based, the ability to record your voice, and similar to AdventMyFriend – you don’t have to have the entire calendar complete to share. Download MyAdvent for Android | iOS
- Musical Calendar App – an IOS app that isn’t customizable but features 25 different Christmas songs. To learn more: Musical Calendar App
