If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sin, God who is faithful and just will fogive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  – 1John 1:8-9

Leader: We have hidden our sin from you. We have kept silent. We have groaned under the weight of your hand.

All: Have mercy on us.

 

Leader: When we pretend not to see you at work,

All: we bury our sin.

Leader: When we neglect the other,

All: we bury our sin.

 

Leader: When we hide our true selves,

All: we bury our sin.

Leader: When we run from truth,

All: We bury our sin.

 

Leader: When we turn away from what we are called to see,

All: we bury our sin.

Leader: When we seek value in what we earn,

All: we bury our sin.

 

Leader: We acknowledge our sin to you,

All: We uncover our iniquity.
Leader: We confess our transgressions

All: And you forgive the guilt of our sin.

 

Leader: Rejoice and be glad, you righteous,
ALL: SING! All you upright of heart!
